On Thursday February 19th the JACC held a General meeting at Samba
in the Little Duck House.
>> Our hosts where Tim and Andrea. Andrea prepared a luscious soup
>> and homemade bread. Coffee and Tea service was available. I had
>> baked some chocolate chip cookies that seemed to go over well and I
>> had a bain de terre gift set that a new member whom joined that night
>> would have gotten a chance to win. Sad to say no new members
>> attended the meeting so I gave the gift to our Hostess as a thank
>> you for their gracious hospitality. There where 13 members in
>> attendance. The Meeting proceeded despite the snow storm.
>>
>>
>> A lot of ground was covered. With everyone excited about the
>> upcoming Chalk Walk for the counties Bicentennial on May 15,16 & 17
>> it was a huge topic for discussion. It was decided to ask the County
>> to contribute only $500 in chalk rather than the proposed $1000
>> and use the other $500 towards a fireworks display for the opening
>> night of Chalk Walk after the Chili cook off.
>>
>> Everyone was excited.
>>
>> The County is considering the proposal and The Jeff Bank has
>> become a sponsor of this event with a $200 donation towards the
>> fire works.
>>
>> "THANKS JEFF" and Ms. Rhonda Owens. Rhonda has stepped up to the
>> plate along with the Jeff Bank to become the Welcome Wagon, yippee
>> so all new business will be getting a proper welcome to our
>> community.
>>
>> We are still looking for a sponsor for the County wide High school
>> Art Competition. If you are interested please contact me to discuss.
>>
>> There was much talk about how we can get on the same page as other
>> area organizations as well as municipalities. One suggestion was
>> to add a different style calendar to our web page so that many
>> different groups would be able to post there events on our site
>> making it "the place to go" for all Western Sullivan County
>> events . Ms. Cindy Herbert of CM DESIGNS has researched
>> different applications and will be moving forward with this AWESOME
>> idea.
>>
>> I also asked that the chamber adopt some rules such as
>> Roberts rules so that meetings have agendas, motions and votes. I
>> feel if people know why their idea was not adopted there would be
>> less hurt feelings and more progress and focus on the growing of
>> Commerce for our members.
>>
>> With that said we have decided to have four general meetings a year
>> with the board meeting the Third Thursday of every month. General
>> meetings to be held every third month. That means the next general
>> meeting will be on Thursday May 21, 2009. We will send out an email
